AFFIRMING TALK THERAPY FOR ALL

Breaking the patterns that no longer serve you.

A safe, affirming space for adults, couples, and teens age 13 and older to process trauma, navigate life's transitions, and build healthier ways of relating — with Caitlin Murray, LCSW.

Wherever you are on your journey, you are welcome here.

WELCOME

You don't have to navigate this alone.

Therapy can be a place to slow down, understand the patterns that shape your life, and process the experiences that feel too heavy to carry on your own. Together, we'll create a compassionate, judgment-free space to heal past wounds and move forward — at your pace, in your way.

AREAS OF SUPPORT

Care that meets you where you are

Every person's path is different. These are the spaces we hold — with warmth, respect, and steady presence.

Addiction

Caitlin Murray, LCSW has over a decade of experience in working with addiction, both chemical and behavioural, of people of all ages 13 and over. She uses evidenced-based practices and works with her clients to find the combination that works for them. It may be Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, it may be Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, or at times Motivational Interviewing and Psychodynamic Therapy to get to the root of the issues that spurred the addiction in the first place. It may be that techniques form one, all, or none is working that day, and the session will be met with the acceptance and grit that is needed that day. Breaking Patterns Therapy is all-inclusive and welcoming of any person of any background that comes through our doors who is looking for help on how to make life a bit better. Please note Caitlin Murray does not specialize in restrictive eating disorders as primary diagnosis, and will refer you to someone with more specialization, but will be happy to work with you on the anxiety/depression/root causes if so desired, so long as you are safe and being treated for that specific diagnosis.

Life Transitions

Change it hard. Sometimes even the exciting changes in graduation, gender-affirmation, retirement, or an “empty nest” (for some examples) can be difficult to manage as you are living life differently now than you have been before. Caitlin Murray utilizes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, as well as other evidenced-practices to help you find a new way of life that feels right for you. As with everything she does, these sessions are client-led and can change direction if you feel it needs to change in session (it will come back around eventually .) Breaking Patterns Therapy is all-inclusive and welcoming of any person of any background that comes through our doors who is looking for help on how to make life a bit better.

Trauma Therapy

Big T or little t, trauma affects us all in different ways. It is often an underlying cause of addiction, abuse, anxiety, depression, and any other “quirk” a personality may have. Sometimes we learn and grow through it ourselves, but much of the time, a little guidance can go a long way. Caitlin Murray utilizes evidenced-based talk therapy practices to help you process through the parts of your past you feel are holding you back from being the person that you want to be. Breaking Patterns Therapy is all-inclusive and welcoming of any person of any background that comes through our doors who is looking for help on how to make life a bit better. If you are looking for a less introspective trauma approach, Ms. Murray would be happy to refer you to a therapist who engages in EMDR, she does not practice it herself.

Individual, Couples, and Teenage Sessions

Therapy is helpful for many things, and here, it is seen as guidance for a better life. Therapy at Breaking Patterns is client-centred, client-led and is used purely for helping you make the life you want to have. Whether that is being a better person for yourself, working through making a stronger relationship, or figuring out how to survive freshman year of high school, sometimes it helps to have someone else to talk through life as it happens and find solutions together. Breaking Patterns Therapy is all-inclusive and welcoming of any person of any background that comes through our doors who is looking for help on how to make life a bit better. Caitlin Murray would like it understood that teenagers require an extra piece of paperwork so that the teen and their parents both know and understand that what is said in session, stays in session, unless there is risk of harm. Confidentiality and safety go hand in hand at Breaking Patterns.
